Facilities:

Karobran and Karingal Farms permits smoking only in designated areas, however we do encourage students to cease this habit and therefore we offer students incentives to help them overcome their addiction.

Karobran and Karingal are a DRUG FREE ZONES and any student found with such substances will be instantly dismissed.  Random urine tests are conducted, and a positive test may result in instant dismissal.

Belongings:

  • On arrival and departure to and from the farm, staff has the right to search all belongings and the person.

  • Clothes must be kept in wardrobes and drawers, and not left lying on the floor, chairs or any other furniture.

  • Students leaving the farm are required to take all their belongings with them. No responsibility is or will be accepted by Karobran for any belongings that are left behind.  THEY WILL BE DISPOSED OF!

  • Students borrow and lend belongings and clothing at their own personal risk.  No responsibility is or will be accepted by Karobran. 

Walking and Jogging:

  • No single male and female students to go walking or jogging together.

  • No student is permitted to go walking at all after dusk.

  • Students must not walk off the property or onto the property of the neighbours.  Students must notify the staff member on duty if they intend to go walking.

  • Students when walking or jogging must walk on roads and walking tracks.

  • Good walking shoes should be worn i.e. runners, due to the wild life surrounding Karobran i.e. snakes etc.

  • Permission to go to Prayer Mountain must be obtained by the Staff member on duty as time is limited, unless special permission is granted.

Visits:

  • No visits are allowed for a one (1) month period.  This is to allow for a phase of adjustment to the program.

  • Permission must be obtained by the Directors for inviting people to the farm, and it asked that the farm office and Directors be notified if you would like visitors to stay overnight at Karobran.

  • All visitors must present themselves to the office on arrival.

Telephone Calls and Mail:

  • No student is permitted to receive incoming calls.  This can only occur under the discretion of a Director.  Staff will pass on the messages from incoming calls to the student.

  • Students are not permitted to make phone calls for the first 4 weeks or while on Discipline. They may write and receive letters during this period. After the 4 weeks period Students are allowed to make phone calls:  Saturday 2.00-3.00pm and Sunday 2.00-3.00pm.

  • Calls are limited to 15 minutes each and can only be made to immediate family or the referee who assisted you in coming to Karobran.        

  • Level 3 students are permitted to make phone calls when they go on their organised weekend shopping trip.

  • Mail will be collected and handed to the student each night at 7pm at the farm office, or during Student Office Hours, which is 1.00-2.00pm each Weekday.

  • Incoming and outgoing mail will be subject to being opened.

  • Students can have their own stamps and envelopes or can purchase them through the office when sending mail out.  All students’ mail to be posted must be sent through the farm office.

  • Centrelink mail is dated and signed and kept in the students file.

  • Under no circumstances are students to send mail of their own.

Music:

  • All tapes and compact disc’s are to be presented to staff.

  • Suitable music will be given back to the student to listen to.

  • Original tapes and discs will be labelled, stored in the office and returned to you on your departure from Karobran.

  • Earphones are required if music is played in bedrooms or houses.

  • Use of stereo’s or radios without earphones where required will be confiscated for one week.  Continued breaking of rules could result in loss of stereos or radio until you leave the program.

Church Attendance:

  • Church services are held on Sunday morning and Sunday evening every week, with Home Fellowship on Wednesday evenings, services are conducted in the church hall on the Karobran property.

  • Attendance at all services is compulsory.  

  • Students must let the on duty staff member know 30 minutes prior to the service commencement that they are sick or unable to attend the service for any reason.

  • No student is permitted to leave the service before the service is completed and the students have been dismissed.

  • Families must always sit together and parents are to take responsibility to keep children quiet and seated through out the service.

Dress:

  • Modest dress must be worn at all times, by all students.

  • If asked by a director or staff member to change, this must be carried out immediately.

Leaving:

  • Any student wishing to leave the farm before completing the program must give 48 hours notice to the Directors via a “follow up slip”.  This is so that finances can be finalised and bookings for transport be made, to the place where they came from.  If this is not carried out, the student forfeits their bond.

  • If a student leaves within the first six (6) weeks they forfeit bond.
