Testimony of Tania Garrod.
I grew up not knowing that God existed. So I very
much grew up in the world. At 28 I had two children, who no longer
lived with me, to two different Dads. A severe Amphetamine
addiction, no self esteem or dignity, and no will to live. I
actually prayed that I would die. Then a desire to get out of the
city and away from the drugs and lifestyle I was living became so
strong I couldn’t fight it. Somehow I ended up at a friends Mums
house who is a Christian. I went to church with her, and somehow I
knew in my heart God was the answer.
I saw a Christian counselor and told her about my
life and what had been going on. We prayed and I accepted Jesus into
my heart, and I saw him take hold of my baggage and Sin and walk
away with it. A weight lifted of my shoulders, and I knew that God
was real. The counselor then rang Karobran and three days later I
arrived there. All I had to my name was a suitcase with a few
clothes. I remember writing on my application that what I wanted to
achieve at Karobran was to learn to live without drugs, and to get
to know all about God. Little did I know that God had so much more
in store for me.
Through the counseling and classes at Karobran, God
was able to show me the root of my Addictions and He was able to
take me through the healing that I needed. I was able to go out to
work and function normally again.
I had always kept phone contact with my Son and
Daughter, when I got to Level three I was able to visit my Son
Regularly. But my Daughters Father refused me access, so I began
Court proceedings to be able to see her. After 8 months I was
granted Visits with her every second weekend. We also stared
preceding to have her come live with me. Karobran supported me every
step of the way.
While I was a student at Karobran I was involved in
the building of our new Church, I was able to work with the Building
Contractors, I learnt many new skills, and I also met my Husband. We
met working together and became friends. 6 months later we were
given permission to start dating.
It was only 3 months later that my son come back to
live with me and I was engaged to be married. I stayed on as a
student until just before the wedding. The wedding was in September
2005.
Since leaving the farm God has continued to bless us.
We are still closely tied to Karobran.
We now have my Daughter living with
us, we also have two new sons, one born in December 2006 and the
other in March 2008.
I have a real love of Karobran, and pray that God
will always use me to encourage and help those that come to the
farm. The presence of God is so strong, and his love for the broken
and lost is so obvious at Karobran.
